Mending a Relationship – The Best Strategies to Mend a Relationship

How to mend a relationship that seems destined for destruction is no easy task. You might have put years into your relationship and now see it falling apart at a very fast pace. Repairing a damaged relationship will take some effort and time, but should pay off in the long run.

1. I’m really stressed, now what?

First of all, you have to realize that if you are falling apart at the seams, there is no way that you will be able to focus on repairing your relationship in a healthy way. You need to do some things “for you”, and get feeling strong again. Stress can be a killer, and you have to relieve some of the stress that has been created, because of your trouble relationship. If you doctor says it’s okay, then start an exercise program. Walking or aerobics is a great “stress buster”, you might actually start sleeping better.

Try getting stronger psychologically. It’s tough to repair a relationship when your thoughts are racing, and it’s difficult to focus. Yoga and meditation has worked wonders in “calming” our thoughts, and slowing down our racing minds.

2. Repairing a relationship that has been troubled for years.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it usually takes time to bring a relationship down. Some of the wounds created have been lingering for a long time, and attempting to heal these wounds will take ample time as well. True, it might be a little more difficult to repair a relationship that has been bad for quite some time, but if there is a true desire by couples to remain together, then the door remains open.

3. Be real careful whom you get advice from.

How to mend a relationship that is troubled, sometime requires intervention. Be real careful with whom you reach out to for advice. When you are in a “fragile” and “stressed” state of mind, sometimes we reach out for others for advice. Make sure these “others” are of sound mind, and know how to live and are actually “living” in a healthy relationship. Someone who might have recently experienced a painful divorce or separation might be “real angry”, and might give you some poor advice.

The best bet here is to seek professional advice. Friends mean well, and want to help you, but you have to be real careful with what advice you give credibility. What might have worked for them, might not work for you.

How to mend a relationship that is struggling will take some time, patience and effort. Don’t give up so easily. You are not alone. We are hovering at a fifty percent divorce rate in this country, so just about everybody out here is struggling at times. Both of you have to give it your best shot before you throw in the towel.
